The Supreme Court ruled in opposition of discriminating against gender in alimony more than 30 years ago.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the percentage of male alimony recipients has been rising and is likely to continue as females step up their earning power and make more than their male counterparts.

As women’s earnings continue to rise more women are becoming financially respondsible in a divorce.
But an increasing number of women are taking preemptive measures to protect themselves in the event of a divorce. In a recent survey, 44% of divorce attorneys report noticing an increase in the number of women asking for prenuptial agreements.
