In less than a year, there’s been a rash of domestic violence homicides in North Carolina.

Lisa Angel, attorney with Rosen Law Firm and chair of the North Carolina Domestic Violence Commission, talks with News 14 Charlotte about how women can protect themselves if they feel they are in a dangerous situation.

Angel stresses that getting a protective order is only one piece of a safety plan. If you are in a domestic violence situation, Angel recommends looking into other safety mechanisms such as moving into a shelter, letting friends and family know where you are at all times, and/or changing your daily routines so you are looking out for your safety on a day-to-day basis.
