While Malta is part of the European Union, it’s the only country in Europe where marriage cannot be dissolved through divorce.
In a perfect world, legalizing divorce would be fine, yet one third of the Malta island is either separated or with plans to be, or is engaging in adulterous affairs. Separation in Malta is defined in terms of property distribution, the rights to see children, but with stipulations of remaining married and being faithful.
Should divorce be a right of all people?
