Jessie Danninger, a financial analyst with Rosen Law Firm, has several tax tips for those that are recently separated or divorced.  She says child support is neither taxable to the recipient nor deductible to the payor. Alimony on the other hand is taxable to the recipient and deductible to the payor, and it’s considered earned income.
