Simultaneously while New Jersey is attempting to make divorce easier, Texas is trying to make it harder by proposing a law involving covenant marriages. The three states that currently allow covenant marriage are Arkansas, Arizona, and Louisiana. Those who oppose the law say covenant marriage is based too much on religion, but backers say it protects marriages.
